The idler wheel, robotics or wheel-ball, is the third perfect point of support for a differential drive robot. The use of this wheel-ball offers better performance and prevents the robot from crawling on the ground. Unlike normal wheels, the wheel-wheel does not override drive motors or change the robot in its path.
